Police deploy special squad to Etim Ekpo, arrest 4 kidnap, cultism suspects

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Mu’azu Zubairu, has ordered the movement of the operational headquarters of special anti-kidnapping squad to Etim Ekpo local government area in order to stop the menace of kidnapping and cultism there.

This is contained in a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, on Thursday.

The action, according to Elkana, followed the abduction of one Mrs Naomi Tuesday Jumbo, wife of the Clan Head of Obong in Etim Ekpo.

Elkana said, “On 22/10/2017, the victim, Mrs. Naomi Tuesday Jumbo, was abducted by some hoodlums, numbering about eight, while driving to their palace at Ibio Edem Urua Village from a neighboring village where they usually spend the night with the Clan Head.

“The Commissioner of Police Akwa Ibom State, CP Zubairu Muazu visited the Clan Head in his palace, where he got first-hand information of the incident and ordered the immediate deployment of a team of Special Anti-kidnapping detectives to the area.

“Four suspects namely; Enobong Friday Nwankwo, Kufre Dick Obot, Teneime Solomon Udo and Inimeno Nkereuwem Inokon all of Nkporikpo village and Ibio Edem Urua villages respectively, were arrested”.

He further said, “effort is being intensified to rescue the victim and apprehend the remaining suspects”.
