Itoro BASSEY, Uyo —
Akwa Ibom State overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor Obinna Nkemjika, says the N442,000 fees being charged by the management of Deeper Life High School is a guarantee for access to quality education.
Pastor Nkemjika expressed this view in an interview with journalists in Uyo, Friday, last week, preparatory to the coming of the General Superintendent of the church, Pastor W. F. Kumuyi for a special crusade in December.
Nkemjika spoke against the backdrop of assertions that the Deeper Life school charging N442,000 a session was outrageous.
According to him, the fees being charged in his church’s school has something to do with the quality of education they give the students.
Nkemjika said, “Right from JSS1, we call it Basic 7, every student has a (laptop) computer. And the computer is part of the 442,000 you are talking about. When you subtract the amount for computer, then you know what is remaining.
“Everything the student needs is provided by the school, you don’t buy anything. I think the only thing the student buy is Biro.
“All the uniforms, from A to Z, is given to the student. All the books, including textbooks, exercise books, and every other thing are given to the student. Then, after that, they are paying N160,000 a term. That N160,000, is tuition. Remove all these things, then you begin to find out how much is remaining.
“The students are fed five times a day. They are fed their breakfast. Then in the midmorning, they are given midmorning snacks, fruits, and beverages. Afternoon, they are given their lunch. Evening, during prep, they are given evening snacks. Then in the night, they are given their dinner”.
According to Pastor Nkemjika, their schools, totaling 21 operating in 21 states in Nigeria, are being run by educationists, who are not ready to compromise standards.
” There’s no amount you spend for your child’s education, and that child goes on like that. He takes his school cert (examination) once, he gets all his papers. Then he comes out with good character, good manners and then he sits for JAMB, he gets his scores. He gets to the university, he does very well.
“The child will get the knowledge. He will know that he studied, and I know that he can go anywhere. And we are taking external examinations too, examinations that will qualify the child to get admission to any school anywhere in the world”.
Meanwhile, members of the church are in high spirits as they await the outpouring of abundant blessings from God in the forthcoming visit of the General Superintendent, Pastor W. F. Kumuyi, on 1st and 2nd December.
The two-day power packed crusade which is be held at the Uyo township stadium is tagged ”Akwa Ibom Day of Total Deliverance and Dominion”, will feature deliverance from sin, Satan and sickness; outpouring of abundant blessings; irreversible breakthrough;
Un-negotiable victory, and lots more.
Pastor Nkemjika said General Superintendent will be in the state to seal up the year for the people and residents of Akwa Ibom State.
He said the programme will be in two parts as on December 1, the General Superintendent will be having a special spiritual session with government officials in the state at the Government House banquet hall, Uyo while on December 2, the man of God will be on an open air crusade at the Uyo Township Stadium by 5 p.m.
